Care For Street Cleaners Volunteer Service

No matter rain or shine, local street cleaners remain hard at work on the front lines. As a funder of the ‘Caritas Labour-Friendly Communities Project’, Kerry Group has gone beyond financial backing by dispatching 50 volunteers from the Kerry Jigsaw Volunteer Team to get directly involved, bringing multifaceted engagement activities to the cleaners.

During the Lunar New Year, volunteers accompanied the workers to welcome the festive season, presenting handwritten thank-you cards and small gifts to help them experience the warmth of the holidays.

During the recent summer, the Jigsaw volunteer team teamed up with Caritas once again to visit North Point, Tai Wai, and Tai Wo Hau, delivering herbal tea and gratitude to the workers while gaining deeper insight into their working conditions under extreme heat, thereby spreading community care. In North Point, the volunteers strolled along the North Point Boardwalk with the workers. As the workers are usually busy with their jobs and relatively unfamiliar with the surrounding area, this provided a wonderful opportunity for them to explore the recreational spaces near their workplaces and relax. Meanwhile, at the refuse collection points in Tai Wai and Tai Wo Hau, volunteers set up stations to measure the workers' blood pressure and blood glucose levels to help raise their health awareness.
