Volunteering
Amid the fifth wave of COVID-19, many elderlies felt anxious, depressed and isolated. Therefore, our Jigsaw volunteer team partnered with Caritas Hong Kong again to organise the Elderly Caring Call program during April and May. It is important to let the elderlies know that they are being cared for and not alone facing the new normal.
Through regular calls and casual chat with the elderlies, volunteers help to understand the needs and their wellbeing, and may refer to social workers for follow up.
With less COVID-19 cases, Jigsaw volunteers sent care packages to the elderlies’ residences in June. Despite the heavy rain that day, volunteers and the elderlies had a great time meeting each other for the first time after talking on phone for months.
