Summer Care for Subdivided Flat Families

Due to the lack of ventilation and cramped space, temperature in subdivided flats can reach 40°C in the summer. Under this soaring heat, many subdivided flat residents cannot afford to turn on the air conditioner because of utility bills severely overcharged by landlords.

Jigsaw volunteers collaborated with Hong Kong Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA) on July 10 to visit families and singleton elderly living in subdivided flats in Sham Shui Po, hoping to make this summer more bearable by bringing them fans, cooling mats, drinks and a friendly face.
