Volunteering
Over 50 volunteers from the Kerry Group Jigsaw Volunteer Team became woodwork apprentices from August to September, learning from former homeless individuals and offenders about their journeys to regain confidence and become professional woodworkers through the 'Gas Station for the Homeless' program by the Society for Community Organization. Guided by these instructors, the volunteers developed carpentry skills and crafted wooden shoe cabinets for low-income families.
The Society for Community Organization's 'Gas Station for the Homeless' is a skills training and career support program sponsored by the Kerry Group and the Chow Tai Fook Charity Foundation. It empowers homeless individuals and ex-offenders to acquire skills such as plumbing and carpentry, aiding their reintegration and encouraging contributions to the community.
